PARIS AGREEMENT AND THE VIETNAM WAR
That this House welcomes the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement that took place on 27th January 1973 which led to the ending of the war between the United States and its allies and Vietnam; however notes that the US commitment to contribute to healing the wounds of war and to postwar reconstruction of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and throughout Indochina, Chapter VIII, Article 21, is one of a number of agreements outstanding; further notes that over three million Vietnamese suffer from the effects of the chemical Agent Orange used by US forces in that war; and urges the US Administration now to honour this agreement.

We are asking all our friends, supporters to contact their MP of the UK Parliament and to ask them to read EDM 691 (please quote them the EDM number), and if they agree, to add their support by signing. Please contact any other MP you know and ask your friends to ask their MP. Help us to reach as many MPs as possible.
Your action on this can help us bring to the attention of the UK Government and to Government of the United States its responsibility to abide by the Paris Agreements of 1973 and so help the victims of Agent Orange.
The military used Agent Orange to clear the surrounding areas of the American and allied military bases in South Vietnam and the foliage by the roadsides. Later it was used to destroy forests to expose the Vietnamese forces opposed to the Americans and their allies. It was also used to destroy the crops that the U.S. felt would be useful to the forces opposing them.
for your info. An EDM is a means by which an MP can table a motion to seek how much support he/she will get from other MPs of the given subject. An MP can also raise the subject matter of the EDM in the Chamber such as: “Can I draw the attention of the Minister/Government to EDM 691.
EDMs continue until the time of the Queens Speech in November when she opens Parliament for the new session at which time all EDMs fall.
